This is a busy passageway between Waverleiy Station and High Street; the Old Town's Royal Mile, which brings you out half way up Cockburn Street. The Old Town is full of closes, passageways and connected cellars like this. If you enjoy being scared witless, come back late at night, not on a bright sunny morning, when you may indulge in a "ghost tour". Suitably dressed sinister figures will conduct you round the spookiest of these ancient spaces, telling blood curdling tales of past horror and from time to time a shape will jump out at you. Is it an an accomplice, your overworked imagination, or something else...?
