Your account of the train journey from Zagreb to Sarajevo was absolutely fascinating and really well written. It really should appear in print. There is something about trains in the Balkans that is immediately gripping - lie Graham Greene's Stamboul Train and Olivia Manning's Balkan Trilogy. I was very interested in your views because for some reasons I felt very affected by the events in Bosnia during the war, although I have absolutely no connection with that country (being born and brought up in Morayshire and living and working now in Skye!).

I was interested to read what you had to say about Banja Luka, Mladic and Karadjic. I'm glad to think they have to exist in such a place. From what I have heard of Banja Luka from other people, it does sound like a life sentence, but there is one small thing I would have to disgaree with you on. Those people and their cheer-leaders - such as the rehabilitated Biljana Plavsic - have to be made to explain themselves in a fair, open court so that the world is faced with what they did, and what we in the west couldn't be bothered doing, namely saving a sovereign pluralist democratic state from racist-engendered annihilation.

Sorry if this seems lie a bit of a rant! Your website is excellent.

4th February was another laugh out loud entry. Well done Dave-laughter is good medicine so you are saving the Health Service a fortune. Maybe you should expect a reduction in your taxes!

Todays entry [in the Diary] made me laugh out loud--not an easy task at the end of a week in school. Thank you

Hi, I was fooling around on the web when I came across your website using McKinson as my search word. I am somewhat of a novice photographer myself and just loved your photos of Scotland. As you can see, we share the same surname. I live in Jamaica so I supposed I 'inherited' the name from some intrepid Scottish traveller way back when. I plan to do some serious research on my surname (some day). The name is quite rare in Jamaica and anyone with the surname McKinson usually has roots in a rural village in the hills of Manchester (Jamaica). I am getting married and moving to France soon so I may just take a trip to Scotland. Your photos have motivated me! Keep up the good work.

I am really impressed with this site and as my mother & father are more than well travelled in the mountains I will pass this site on to them. The images remind me why I love Scotland.

Hi! Wow! I love your photos! Yours is the best I've seen of Scotland! I went to sleep last nite dreaming of purple flowers on hills/cliffs! Is that heather? I got up this a.m. searching for your site! Thank you for showing me such beauty! I didn't know Scotland was so beautiful until I saw your photos! My Dad's family were from Scotland. My maiden name is Makinson, the americanized version of McKinson. Have a great day!

Magnificant wallpapers. I wondered what Skye and the Corries looked like in the sunshine. The rains of August kept them hidden last year during our vacation, as were most of Lewis and Harris.

I just wanted to thank you for sharing your wonderful photos. I am just learning to use your site- downloading screensaver, etc. I'm a stay-at-home Mom, so I cannot, at this time, buy your prints- but I would certainly like to someday! My husband and I went to Scotland for our honeymoon (Especially love the Highlands) and met his relatives, who live near Devon, England. I just wanted to thank you again for being so generous. May God Bless you and yours

I just downloaded your Torridon screen saver and it is beautiful! I had been using your first one which is just as nice. There is a picture in the Torridon one of a glacial valley in fall colors, no snow, a loch in the distance and a two lane road at the bottom. I have no idea what the location is but I would love to use it as wallpaper.? I live in San Diego Calif. and have been to the borders, Edinburgh and Stirling once and fell in love with Scotland. Having your pictures as wallpaper and as screen savers somewhat satisfies my desire to return. Thank you for offering your pictures for free. They are now on a computer in a county office and on two computers at the college where I work.

Thank you for your prompt reply and for the images you sent. It looks like you had an interesting time weather-wise on that trip.

The jpg. images came through easily and I was particularly pleased with the one you labelled no. 3, Casteal Barraich. The snow and the afternoon light are very evocative of winter in the north and give the picture originality. I would have liked to have gone to the 75x50 cm size but I defer to your expertise in such matters. Therefore, I would like to order one copy of the abovementioned image in the largest feasible size, 20x16 inches if you think that most appropriate.
